Invitation to participate in a project regarding the terms and conditions in tram acquisitions

The Swedish Tram Cities Association (sw: Spårvagnsstäderna) (“TCA”) was founded in order to facilitate the expansion and development of trams in Swedish cities. TCA:s members has noted that the agreements regarding delivery and acquisition of trams in Sweden often are complex and sometimes unclear which leads to difficulties both in negotiations and interpretation. Furthermore, it is not unusual that the suppliers and the buyers of trams interprets the agreements differently which has led to problems in the past.

In the light of the above, TCA has initiated a project in order to discuss, reflect and develop agreements regarding delivery and acquisition of trams in Sweden. Thus, TCA hereby invites municipalities, transport authorities and tram suppliers to participate and contribute to this project. The goal for the project is not to set out a single standard agreement for the industry, but to provide recommendations for different contractual solutions and thus form a basic tool-kit which can be used during the drafting and negotiations of the agreements. In order for the tool-kit to be as complete, clear and useful as possible it is of vital importance that as many interested parties (municipalities, transport authorities and tram suppliers) as possible take part in the project. The upside of the project is to facilitate the expansion and development of trams in Swedish cities as well as to cut costs on both sides.
