Jönköping is currently expanding the trunk bus system, and are making adaptions to increase the speed of the buses. Another trunkline was created and is now four in total. Busways are built to prioritize bus traffic in the city, and these can later be upgraded to tramways. Currently one line is possible to convert to tramways in the future, and that is the line that will serve the future new high speed rail station south of Munksjön. This future station will be a new node for city development, and will have to be served by high capacity public transport to be attractive.
