About us

Spårvagnsstäderna strives to facilitate the establishing of tramways. The organization conveys knowledge, creates networking opportunities and promotes cooperation on urban rail projects in Sweden and Scandinavia.

We welcome all cities, regions, public transport authorities, companies and interest organizations in the tramway sector to get involved in our work.

Spårvagnsstäderna is working on facilitating financing and simplifying regulations for building and operating the tram infrastructure. We are also showcasing good practices and new technology in the sector, and provide arenas for actors to meet and network.

We see trams as one important tool for sustainable public transport, as tramsways are environmentally friendly and efficient. Tramways also provide a high level comfort, high passenger capacity and high accessibility. The permanence of a tramway line attracts investments along the line to a high degree.
